This project was a classic town garden challenge; a complete redesign for a more family-friendly space that included room for a “kitchen” garden and outdoor dining, yet allowed for privacy and retained the existing pool.
The first step was to level the lawn area and make it more entertaining-friendly by installing stone wall seating. After excavating and pouring concrete, this theme was carried throughout with ashlar style sandstone walling and sandstone paving of the terrace area and steps.
Privacy was ensured with western red cedar timber screening and the garden provided a friendly and homely feel through a selection of plants that included Sage varieties, Japanese Box, Mediterranean Spurge, Crepe Myrtle, Pencil Pines, Indian Hawthorn, Persian Shield, Silver Spur Flower, Silverbush and Sweet Viburnum.
The end result is a Tuscan style garden that allows for seasonal change, and an adaptive outdoor space that can be enjoyed by all ages for all occasions.
