After downsizing from a large home, we were asked to create a garden within the new, smaller space that would allow for maintaining lifestyle – able to entertain up to 20 people, have ample room for the grandchildren to play and provide a beautiful aesthetic.
As space was the key factor, we began by removing the existing lawn and excavating and removing some plants which were giving the space a tired feel.
In their place we installed brick paving, decomposed granite paths, a herb planterbox and a garden shed – to provide a wonderful nostalgic feeling to the new environment.
The plants were chosen for their beautiful formal look, including Hydrangea, Selected Herbs and Japanese Box and framed with topiaries including Lilly Pilly, Bartlettina sordid and NZ Rock Lily.
The finishing touches were provided with a combination of sawn sandstone and eco sleepers and steel edging which gave the new garden a refined understated elegance.
