This project involved unlocking the potential of a beautiful western facing balcony that was currently being under-utilised. The brief called for an informal entertainment area that would work in both summer and winter, as well as a space that would provide a sense of privacy for the owners to enjoy the afternoon sun.
It was important the balcony have a relaxed atmosphere throughout, and play heavily on the indoor/outdoor nature of the space. Reconstituted stone pots were planted out with Balled Buxus to create a clear division for the sites programs. Encapsulating the space are teak portable planters with Viburnum hedges that line the walls, and Wisteria twined through the balcony fence.
The entertainment sector features deep set outdoor lounges to create a comfortable and relaxed vibe. Classic white butterfly chairs are paired with a peacock blue drum table, which looks great against the backdrop of lush Wisteria vines.
The result is a private urban oasis for the owners to enjoy.
